NZ's First Commercial Cane Juice Rum.
This limited edition rum was a ‘proof of concept’ for The NZ Rum Co. Over seven years of research on cultivation techniques a number of failures, successes, droughts, floods and against outside belief, we grew healthy productive Sugarcane.
So this rum is made from freshly pressed New Zealand Sugarcane grown right here at the distillery.
The cane juice had a Brix of 19.5, very aromatic with a sweet, fruity and slightly grassy nose, and was exactly that on the pallet too!
This was fermented for seven days then double distilled in a Copper Pot Still. The resulting spirit was slowly diluted to 50% ABV, where it retains all of the aromatics and flavours of the original juice, and rested for four weeks.
